COVID-19 response

Afghanistan is one of the countries that heavily hit by COVID-19 pandemic. As per seroprevalence survey that conducted by ministry of public health (MOPH) of Afghanistan, approximately 10 million Afghans may have contacted virus as their blood tests showed antibody against SARS-COV-2. The READ has contributed to the response to COVID-19 through social media complains and volunteers attending mosques and provided messages on use of mask, physical distancing and frequent hand wash.

Symptoms of COVID-19: It is ranging from mild to server illness. Symptoms could appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. The symptoms could be as follows:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
